Thorplands ward includes the areas of Southfields, Overstone Lodge, Goldings and Thorplands Brook. It is part of Northampton's Eastern District and to the south is Lumbertubs and Weston Favell.

Cllr Dennis Meredith and Cllr Sadik Chaudhury were elected, having won the seat from New Labour, in the 3rd May 2007 local election. Dennis was subsequently elected to serve Thorplands residents on Northamptonshire County Council, after winning the seat from Labour in 2009. |
