“Conservatives have let down young unemployed people in Northamptonshire” Cllr Chris Lofts

Liberal Democrat Transport Spokesman Councillor Chris Lofts has condemned the Conservatives after they voted down a Lib Dem call to help young people with transport costs to get to job interviews and training.
Cllr Lofts said "I'm really disappointed by the actions of Northamptonshire Conservatives today. They had a chance to stand up for local young people and help them get into work and training opportunities. Instead they turned their backs on Northamptonshire's young people and let them down."
"Young people need support from their representatives. In rural areas and areas of deprivation transport costs can be a real barrier to taking up work and training opportunities. All the Liberal Democrats were asking was for the Council to look at a scheme to fund travel costs. Northamptonshire Conservatives refused to even do that."
"With their actions today the Conservatives have revealed their true colours. When it comes to helping young people into work, whatever words they may say, the Tories just don't care."
