Bright lights shine on Northampton's historic Market Square

Northamptonians got their first glimpse of the Market Square's new lighting after completion of the government-backed regeneration project.

Commenting at the event on Tuesday, Lib Dem Cabinet member for Regeneration and Borough Councillor for Kingsthorpe, Richard Church, said:

"The lights look great and really show off the square's beautiful, old buildings.

"They are a welcome step on the road to transforming the square, over time, into a civic space, full of cafes and bars, used into the evenings and at weekends."
