World Pillow Fight Day comes to Northampton

The first in a series of events on Northampton's new-look Market Square got under this weekend way with shoppers coming to feather-bedded blows.

Pillow-sluggers on Northampton's Market SquareThe impromptu event, arranged as part of World Pillow Fight Day, saw visitors get stuck into some serious pillow-slugging to the great enjoyment of both participants and by-standers alike.

Lib Dem Council Leader Tony Woods welcomed the initiative, saying:

"It was great to see so many people getting stuck in.

"I was amazed at how organisers and local people came together using Facebook and World Pillow Fight Day's own website to get more people involved.

"I hope the council's own events, which kick off next weekend, will be similarly well received."
