The fight against homelessness in Northampton was given a boost today (20 March) with the announcement of over one million pounds of government funding.
A flagship facility to provide accommodation and support to rough sleepers and homeless people is set to receive £1.42 million funding following a successful bid by the borough council and partner agencies.
Liberal Democrat Leader of Northampton Borough Council, Cllr Tony Woods said: "I'm extremely pleased that the government has given its backing to our proposal. There's a lot of detailed work yet to be done but I am confident that the borough council, working closely with other local service providers, will be able to provide a centre that offers counselling and support as well as accommodation to vulnerable people.
"This will mean a better deal for those people most in need of our support."
