Northampton's bins are hungry and waiting for you to feed them!
Following the successful Feed the Bins campaign in April earlier this year people visiting the town centre during half term week are being urged to Feed the Bins rather than the streets and help keep Northampton free from litter.
Northampton Borough Council's Street Scene team will be out in force alongside the council's Neighbourhood Wardens in a joint effort to crack down on the amount of rubbish dropped by people in the town.
Dychurch Lane has just undergone a clean up and Neighbourhood Wardens have been visiting shops in the town to remind them of their responsibilities to help keep the streets clean.
Councillor Trini Crake, cabinet member for environment said:
"The town centre will be busier than normal during half term and we are asking people to do their bit to keep it clean.
"The Feed the Bins campaign made a visible difference to the town centre and this is a reminder to keep using the bins. We will be raising awareness during this week with a roadshow in the town on Friday and a rerun of the popular litter monster advert on local radio.
"This is about educating people in the first instance but if they choose to ignore the message they will face a fine of £75. We are not prepared to let a few irresponsible people spoil the town centre for the residents of Northampton."
