The Lib Dems have published their manifesto for the Northampton Borough Council elections that will take place on 3 May 2007. Entitled Put the Pride back in Northampton, the manifesto identifies key areas such as clear leadership, town centre regeneration, cleaner neighbourhoods and a listening Council as top priorities.
Launching the manifesto, Lib Dem Group Leader, Tony Woods said, "We will provide the clear leadership that the Council and the Town desperately need. We will do this by having clear policies and by taking decisive action to improve the Council and the Town.
"Northampton has a lot to offer. It is in a great location close to major roads and rail links to both London and Birmingham. It has one of the largest market squares in Europe. It is steeped in history but has a history of innovation and change. And it has real character from its architecture and, particularly, from its people. It has a large, diverse population, with a historically defiant streak.
"Our manifesto is about recognising and being proud of these unique qualities. We are not trying to be the next Milton Keynes, we want Northampton to be somewhere that people are proud of. We believe Northampton has all the right ingredients to be a place of the future."
