Tories fail to fight illegal encampments

Kingsthorpe residents have set up a group, NN2, to fight illegal encampments along the Welford Road. The Tory-run County Council's lack of action on their promise to set up more much needed travellers sites is adding to the problem of illegal encampments.
Liberal Democrat Councillor for Kingsthorpe ward Richard Church said: "The Tory-Council's failure to set up authorised travellers sites means the threat of illegal encampments won't go away.
"Fortunately, swift action was taken to prevent this land being occupied by travellers, we want to put this area of land along the Welford Road to better use by turning it into a linear park for future generations to enjoy."
